NOTE CARDS OF THE ASCENSION'S HISTORICAL CANADIAN CHURCH WINDOWS

Featured in the Niagara Anglican, these beautiful windows in the Ascension’s interior commemorate the work of early Canadian missionaries and bishops. Be sure to ask about these beautiful note cards prepared by Mary Goldsberry as a fundraising project for the parish during Canada’s 150th birthday. The note cards are available for purchase as 5x7 folded note cards, in a set of 5 different designs (2 windows on each) for $25.00 Contact Mary at mary_goldsberry@cogeco.com or contact the office if you wish to purchase.

SUNDAY LUNCH GET TOGETHERS!

Join us for Lunch - All are welcome to come and have lunch at one of the local restaurants following the Sunday Service and Choir practice. We will meet in the Narthex and leave promptly at 12:15 p.m.

If you are delayed for some reason, please go directly to the restaurant. Please speak to Sandra Boulter if you have any questions. Thanks.

MUFFIN MAKING FOR THE ABC PROGRAM

Anyone wishing to bake muffins can join in the fun at 9 a.m. alternating Wednesdays during the school year. Volunteers meet in the kitchen to bake 400 muffins for Queen Victoria Elementary School children. Volunteers are always needed to help with the baking and serving at the school. Donations for the ABC are also welcomed. All donations are tax deductable and tax receipts will be provided at the end of the year. Call the office directly at 905-527-3505 or speak to Jean LePan if you can help out. Thanks!

The Achievement Breakfast Club Program requires drivers to take the baked muffins to Queen Victoria Elementary School every other Wednesday, anytime between 12 noon and 2pm. I would like 3-4 drivers on a rotating schedule. This is not a big commitment of time. Please see Jean LePan if you can help.

SPECIAL URGENCY - ST MATTHEW'S HOUSE

We have received a letter of thanks from the staff at St. Matthew’s House for all your generous contributions to their food bank. They, along with many other food banks, are under immense strain as their shelves have been empty in recent months. They point out a particular need for the following NON-PERISHABLE items:

Canned stew, canned soup, canned fruit, canned vegetables, dry pasta or rice, canned or bottled pasta sauce.

You can deliver these products to their building at 414 Barton St. East, or continue to bring in these foodstuffs to the church when you come for Services. Please remember the families who need assistance. In the past we have also welcomed cereals, baby food, diapers etc.

Thank you for whatever assistance you can provide.

PARISHIONER MAIL PICK UP

This is a reminder that Reader’s Propers, ministry Schedules, Minutes from meetings, personal cards, and other mail to parishioners are located in the in boxes provided on the Information Table in the Narthex. Please be sure to check each week to see if there is something there for you to take home. With the old mailboxes long gone, this is the only way we can communicate with you (and save postage costs of course). Thank you for your understanding.

SPECIAL REQUEST

Parishioners, as a courtesy to others, please do not wear any perfumes or cologne while attending Service. Some people have allergic reactions to these products. Thank you for your cooperation.

FLOWER DELIVERY AFTER WORSHIP SERVICE

We have very dedicated scheduled weekly flower delivery volunteers and their ministry is very appreciated. However, we sometimes need another volunteer(s) for a particular Sunday. Please see or phone Ruth Faulks (905-544-8438) if you can assist or for more information

ALTAR GUILD VOLUNTEERS

You’re invited to help, every 4 weeks, in setting up for Worship Service. Please contact Bishop Terry if you can assist in this important ministry.

FINANCIAL ASSISTANCE FOR THE ABC PROGRAM

A special thank you to all those who have made contributions to the ABC Program. Your gifts have really made a difference in the program’s success. If you wish to make a donation to help support the cost of supplies, ABC brochures are at the back of the church with donation forms inside. All donations are tax deductible. Thanks again for helping out.

BEFORE YOU LEAVE SUNDAY SERVICE......

Remember to stop by the table at the back of the church every Sunday before leaving for home, to look over the various print materials and event announcements that are provided for your information. No need to miss out on any upcoming events!

THE COMMUNITY

A new initiative has started by the Anglican Church called “The Community” - Our church. Our conversations. Ask. Tell. Celebrate. Join other Canadian Anglicans to talk about life as church. Visit online at www.thecommunity.anglican.ca.

OLD STAMPS AND EYEGLASSES

Remember to save your old stamps and eyeglasses and bring to the church. They are donated to charities who will make good use of them for others.

EMERGENCY CONTACT INFORMATION

We will continue to ask parishioners to fill out the Emergency Form available at the back of the church so that your relative/friend can be contacted in case of sudden illness, etc. Please put your completed form in the wicker basket provided on the Wardens’ Table. If you wish to add more info to your handed-in “Parishioner Emergency Contact” Form, please phone the office.

PRAYERS OF THE PEOPLE LIST

For the benefit of new parishioners, please note that the Ascension Prayers of the People list located in the binder at the back of the church is a tool for all Ascension parishioners to note the names of family and friends they would like prayers offered for, on their behalf. The printing of their names in the Sunday bulletin starts anew every three months. July starts a new cycle. Please contact Margaret Gibbs if you wish to have a name carried forward.

ST MATTHEW'S HOUSE DONATIONS

Please remember the families who need assistance. Donations of non-perishable goods can be dropped off at the church during office hours. Donated items can also be dropped off on Sunday in the basket provided.
